Building Trust in Digital Healthcare Processes
Springer has published the new book “Blockchain as an Audit Layer in EU Healthcare: Trust, Governance, and Evidence Artifacts aligned with the GDPR, EHDS, and NIS2” by Assoc. Prof. Sebastian Fitzek, PhD, from the Research Centre for Medical Image Analysis & Artificial Intelligence (MIAAI) at Danube Private University (DPU).
The book explores how blockchain technology can be used to make digital processes in healthcare more transparent, traceable, and verifiable. Sensitive health data are not stored on the blockchain
Instead, blockchain can be used to document evidence related to processes such as consent, data integrity, and data provenance.
The approach is discussed in the context of key European regulatory frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the European Health Data Space (EHDS), and NIS2.
The publication addresses a timely question at the intersection of blockchain, data protection, regulation, and digital healthcare.
