Large Turnout in Wiener Neustadt and Krems
Danube Private University (DPU) once again successfully took part in the Long Night of Research in 2026, presenting interactive stations at the TFZ Wiener Neustadt as well as at the Krems campus.
In Wiener Neustadt, visitors were able to experience medical imaging and anatomy in a hands-on way, for example with a radiation-free “rainbow X-ray box.” In addition, demonstrations showed how SPR technology is used to analyze molecular processes that are relevant for diagnostics and drug development. Interactive experiments such as paper sensors, vitamin C tests, and fruit batteries also invited visitors to participate. Particularly pleasing was the large turnout of around 2,600 visitors, including many families, children, young people, and adults who engaged intensively with the stations.
In Krems, DPU also presented seven interactive stations—ranging from ethno- and tropical dentistry and the impact of nano- and microplastics on the human body to practical exercises using a laparoscopy training device and an operating microscope.
A big thank you goes to all staff members, and especially to the researchers, for their dedicated commitment. We also extend our thanks to ecoplus. The Business Agency of Lower Austria, for the excellent organization of the event.
