International Research at DPU

DPU is currently hosting PhD researcher Gizem Aktug from the FZU – Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague for a research stay.

Strengthening Collaboration between DPU and FZU

Working under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Jakub Dostalek, PhD, she is advancing her research on optical biosensors at DPU. Building on an established collaboration between FZU and DPU, her research stay contributes to further strengthening the scientific partnership between the two institutions while making use of DPU's state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure.

Her research focuses on designing advanced biointerfaces for optical biosensors. By combining Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Plasmon-Enhanced Fluorescence (PEF), she develops innovative approaches for highly sensitive biomarker detection and continuous analyte monitoring.

"Working in such a vibrant, diverse environment, collaborating with amazing colleagues and getting to know visiting scientists from all around the world, makes conducting research here genuinely inspiring," says Gizem Aktug.

The research stay highlights DPU's international outlook and demonstrates the importance of long-term partnerships with leading research institutions across Europe. Such collaborations foster scientific exchange and support the development of innovative research.
