New DPU Publication on DNA Biosensing

Innovative biosensor platform opens new perspectives for diagnostic applications.

International collaboration advances innovative biosensing technology for the label-free detection of mitochondrial DNA.

Researchers at Danube Private University (DPU), in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, have published a new scientific article in the journal Biosensors and Bioelectronics X.

The study investigates the suitability of electrolyte-gated organic transistors (EGOTs) for the label-free detection of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), an important biomarker associated with various diseases, including multiple sclerosis. By combining organic electronics with tailored surface chemistry, the researchers developed a high-performance biosensing platform that opens new perspectives for future diagnostic applications.

The DPU contributors to the publication include Dr. Katharina Schmidt, Dr. Roger Hasler, Assoc. Prof. Jakub Dostálek, PhD, and Hon.-Prof. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Knoll.
