Ioannis Lazarou, MSc, PhD
Ioannis Lazarou, MSc, PhD is EU Research Projects Coordinator at Danube Private University (DPU), Austria. His work focuses on the strategic development, coordination, and implementation of competitive European research and innovation projects, with particular emphasis on biomedical AI, oncology, digital health, translational research, and multidisciplinary health innovation.
Ioannis Lazarou has more than ten years of experience across Horizon Europe, EIC Pathfinder, Eurostars, Mission Cancer, Erasmus+, and related European funding programmes. During his career, he has contributed to the successful development of multiple multi-million-euro proposals and large international consortia, working with universities, hospitals, research organisations, SMEs, and industry partners across Europe. He has also served in coordination and project management roles for EU-funded research initiatives, supporting scientific planning, consortium alignment, budgeting, reporting, and implementation.
He holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and has a research background in optical telecommunications, photonic systems, and digital technologies. He has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal and conference publications and combines scientific training with extensive experience in European research strategy, proposal design, and collaborative innovation ecosystems.
